Welcome to my tiny corner of the web. I am a mechanical engineering graduate student in the George W. Woodruff School of Mechanical Engineering and a research assistant in the Intelligent Machine Dynamics Laboratory at Georgia Tech. For information on my research on flexible robotic arms, please go here.

I was born in Pakistan in 1982 and was raised in Oakland, CA. I graduated cum laude with my B.S. in M.E. at San Jose State University in May of 2006. Prior to arriving at GT in the fall of 2006, I worked in the Toyota Tacoma assembly maintenance department at NUMMI in Fremont, CA and later as an intern in the automation group at Rainin in Oakland, CA. Today, I like to see myself as a very well-rounded student of mechanical engineering with interests in the general areas of the product design cycle from planning to manufacturing, control theory, good ol' mechanical design, electrical design (prepackaged sensors and such, not so much PCB layout), and manufacturing/fabrication (machining and welding for now). My goal has always been to be a self-sufficent mechanical engineer who can competently carry a design through the entire design process. My aim is to become more of a generalist than a specialist, in hopes of making a more effective engineering manager one day and also because some variety in tasks makes for more interesting work.

In my spare time, I enjoy riding and fixing sportbikes, traveling, cooking (I try!), weight training at the CRC, reading about personal investing, snowboarding in the winter and watching classic movies.
